The Pennsylvania Department of Health has been promoting the health and well being of Pennsylvania citizens since 1905. These challenges have changed the responsibilities of public health.

Employee Retirement Income Security Act –– US Department of Labor
The Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) is a federal law that sets minimum standards for retirement and health benefit plans in private industry. ERISA does not require any employer to establish a plan. It only requires that those who establish plans must meet certain minimum standards. ERISA covers retirement, health and other welfare benefit plans (e.g., life, disability and apprenticeship plans). Among other things, ERISA provides that those individuals who manage plans (and other fiduciaries) must meet certain standards of conduct. The law also contains detailed provisions for reporting to the government and disclosure to participants. There also are provisions aimed at assuring that plan funds are protected and that participants who qualify receive their benefits.

Social Security Administration
Your Social Security benefits are the foundation on which you can build a secure retirement. The three major elements of your retirement portfolio are: Benefits from pensions, Savings and investments, and Social Security benefits. Most financial advisors say you'll need about 70 percent of your pre-retirement earnings to comfortably maintain your pre-retirement standard of living. If you have average earnings, your Social Security retirement benefits will replace only about 40 percent. The percentage is lower for people in the upper income brackets and higher for people with low incomes. You'll need to supplement your benefits with a pension, savings or investments. To help you plan for retirement, each year we send you your personal Social Security Statement, which gives you an estimate of the monthly benefit amounts you and your family may qualify for now and in the future.

The key to his vision was to support family members in providing care to the senior at home, where he or she could live as independently as possible. Seniorlink built the first nationwide network of credentialed care managers. With professionals located in all 50 states, we are able to offer families qualified, local-level referrals — unlike any other eldercare resource. Our nationwide reach enables Seniorlink to serve even long-distance caregivers. To date, Seniorlink has enrolled more than 1,200 care managers in its network. Our combination of credentialing and background verification, coupled with the supervision of Seniorlink’s clinical staff, has set the standard for geriatric care management.
